Joe started playing drums when he was 27 for a band called Charlie and the Swingmasters along with The Outlaws current bass player, Russell.  He played with them for about 4 years, then joined a 4 piece group called the Prairie Cadillacs for about 3 months.  He freelanced off and on for about 2 and a half to 3 years.  He helped start another country band called RuffCut, which consisted of bass player, Bobby Pruitt and guitar player Johnny Wick, who are known as the Sidewinders.  He joined Austin's first and only Czech Polka Band about 6 years ago known then as The Dancehall Boys and now known as The Czech Melody Masters.  His hunger for music led him to freelance again on the side.

He's had the opportunity and the privilege to play for country music legend Hank Thompson.  He has played behind such talents as Floyd Domino, Jason Roberts, John Michael Whitby, Johnny Gimble, Rick McRae, Red Volkeart, Ron Huckabee and the list goes on and on.

"But the biggest thrill I have to this date is the opportunity to play for the great talent as I have in this band, The Outlaws.  I've been with The Outlaws for 9 years and it just keeps getting better and better.  I am anxious to see what the future holds for this outstanding culmination of talent."

His favorite band
("besides us") is Asleep At The Wheel.  His influences are vocalists Ray Price, George Strait, Faron Young, Tracy Byrd, Johnny Bush, Ray Benson and his Dad.

"I may not know one note from the other (being a drummer and all) but I do know what I like to hear.  I do hope that ya'll come to hear us real soon, if the Good Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise.  Thank you and God Bless!!!"
