Born December 1956 in El Dorado, Arkansas Donny seemed always to have at least a toy guitar around. He made his stage debut at the age of nine in Munich, Germany where his stepfather was stationed with the US Army. His mother, Shirley always encouraged his music, But his stepfather tried to discourage him all the while insisting that if Donny were to be a musician he must give it one-hundred percent.

When Donny was fourteen his Grandfather was kind enough to buy him a Les Paul guitar knowing it takes a high quality instrument to learn the fine points. He continued gigging with various bands through high school and a hitch in the Army after which he went to college for some formal music training. Schedule conflicts made it necessary to continue study in the real world of clubs and studios.  Donny has continued playing with professional road bands, house bands, semi-pro bands, as well as solo acoustic jobs and occasional session work while actively expanding his musical knowledge and recording and production experience.

Donny has played and/or associated with notables:  Neal McCoy, Ronnie Mac, Steve Warner, Johnny Bush, Johnny Duncan, Justin Tubb, Tanya Tucker, Charlie Louvin, Bill Mack, Freddy Fender, and many heroes and mentors such as:  LaRon Tubb, Stuart Still, Randy Hood, Lynn Massey, Loren O'niel, Shiela Renfro, Mike Fisher, Hedanorikartoka Abel, Kleto, Nicki Ochoa, David Marshall, Gene Morgan, Dusty Wilson, Bill Kelly, Bill Dearmore, Steve Palousek, Steve and Bobby Seigler, and many more that deserve mention.
